Группа из Бирмингема была основана в 1969 году. Сменив несколько названий, коллектив впоследствии стал называться Черный шабаш или Черная суббота, кому как больше подходит.
Считаются на сегодняшний день родоначальниками стиля дум-метал, в его первозданном исполнении.
В 2016 году было объявлено об окончании музыкальной деятельности группы.
